Tucson, AZ – 27 January, 2015 –

Knight Composites is very proud to announce a two-year partnership with Ben Hoffman, five time Ironman winner and silver medalist at the 2014 Ironman World Championships in Kona.

For anyone who has followed Ben Hoffman’s rise to greatness in the triathlon world, you will know that this athlete is an understated, humble guy who just likes to give his all and win races. Jump on his website and you’ll see the words “I LIKE TO GO FAST” together with the black and white checkered flag of his adopted insignia – the same for competitors across the globe who aspire to cross the finish line first.

The Colorado native, commonly known as “The Hoff”, who now calls Boulder his home and Tucson his spring training second home – two epicenters of the triathlon world – has excelled in some of the toughest competitions in the sport including Wisconsin, St. George and Coeur d’Alene (taking the course record from Craig Alexander in 2013). He started his career by winning the Collegiate National Championships almost a decade ago and from then committed himself to the sport he loved by turning professional in 2007. It was in October 2014 that the years of dedication finally paid off, when the American took the silver medal in the IM World Championships in Kona. In standard form, Hoffman remained modest quoting the result as “Unbelievable, beyond my wildest dreams”, but vowed to go one better in 2015.

It was not only his results, but also Hoffman’s demeanor that attracted him to the Knight Composites team, as CEO Beverly Lucas explained. “We had our sights set on an athlete who not only killed it on the road, but also was as personable and friendly as he was fast. This might sound a little off the wall, but we’re a company that prides ourselves as much on being totally approachable as we do of being at the forefront of technology. It was important to us to find the right match.”

That’s not to say that the Hoff was an easy catch, but after testing the wheels for several weeks over varying terrains and discussing Knight’s data with Director of Engineering, Kevin Quan, Hoffman finally made his decision. “I’m very pleased to announce that I will be partnering with the Knight Composites family for the 2015 and 2016 seasons,” said Hoffman. “Following my career best performance in Kona last year, I was looking for the changes that could help me take the next step, and Knight’s innovative approach and passion for improvement matches mine perfectly. With a rapidly changing technological environment, every second counts, and I know I can count on the fact that Knight have created the products that will carry to me to the top. I’m looking forward to getting even faster aboard the Knight train!”

Lucas agreed, “We couldn’t be more excited to have Hoff on board our wheels and we’re determined to work with him to ensure the top spot on the podium in Hawaii this year.”

About Knight Composites

Knight Composites was conceived in the summer of 2013 by bicycle industry veterans Jim Pfeil, Beverly Lucas and Kevin Quan, with the goal of producing a faster wheel than was currently available on the market. Working alongside the University of Toronto Institute of Aerospace Studies, their efforts have resulted in a new generation of super-fast, stealth wheel designs that have taken construction and safety standards to a whole new level, all of which is underwritten by a manufacturing team enlisting brains, engineering, technology and personality from all over the world. Their current clincher models include the world’s fastest wheel in their 95mm depth, the fastest in its class in the 65mm and an all-round climbing/racing/training wheel having similar aerodynamic properties in the 35mm.

Knight clinchers are available from independent bicycle dealers worldwide, and will extend to tubulars and mountain wheels from late Spring 2015. For further information, email
